The Kodiak Vehicle Stabilization System is a tensioned buttress system for stabilizing side lying and overturned vehicles. The simple design and rugged construction ensures that the Kodiak VSS will operate under the worst conditions. Mud, dirt, sand or water will not effect the tool’s operation. The aluminum and steel construction make the struts durable and lightweight. In fact, so lightweight that the entire two strut system with extensions and carrying bag weighs only 49 lbs. Compare that to systems weighing as much as 140 lbs. The Kodiak System is designed for quick deployment and set up. Simply remove a strut from the carrying bag, add an extension if necessary, extend the adjusting rod, place the pre connected ratchet belt and hook and tighten. The entire set up can be done in less than one minute. The Kodiak Vehicle Stabilization System will allow rescuers to stabilize a vehicle quickly and efficiently.
The Kodiak Vehicle Stabilization System comes with two 27” to 42” adjustable struts with 2” ratchet straps and hooks. These are used in conjunction with 2-15” extensions, 2-30” extensions and 2 multi-use heads. These are used to create the “tensioned buttress” used to stabilize the vehicle. The multi-use head is designed to fit into frame holes, along flat edges and grip into sheet metal. This aluminum head is anodized red to highlight the contact point of the tensioned buttress. This head takes the place of the many optional heads of other systems. With the Kodiak System one head does the job every time. There is no need to debate over which head should be used. The multi-use head works in all situations. The positive lock pin on the Kodiak System is designed to prevent accidental removal. A button on the pin must be pushed in order to remove it from the adjusting rod. The pin is easy to use even with gloves. The positive lock pin is connected to the strut housing with a PVC coated, stainless steel lanyard.

The Capabear Claw Kit

The Capabear Claw Kit, designed by the originator of tensioned buttress stabilization, provides stabilization for overturned or side lying vehicles. This kit eliminates the need for box cribbing in many situations. Variable lengths of 4x4’s are used to create this tension buttress system, thereby reducing the amount of cribbing needed for stabilization. This system is designed to work with equipment already on the rescue vehicle and requires less storage space than most systems. The Capabear Claw Kit, designed by rescue personnel for rescue personnel.
